Nappy no. 3 - Tighty Wightey Hipsters modified

Here's try no. 3 - the last one cut in at the top of her thighs so I made a couple of modifications to this one.  Shortened the height of the tabs by cutting the pattern in a bit.  In the original pattern you cut the inside narrower through the legs than the outside, and ease the extra in.  Think that would work well for a fitted nappy, but the PUL on her pink nappy rolled in towards in the inside on the leg casing which leaves red marks.  So cut the inside and outside the same size.  Took smaller seam allowances (just over 1/4", force of habit from quilting I think!) and made a welt pocket on the inside following the Rocket Bottoms instructions.

Quilt for Kristy

Pic's a bit fuzzy sorry!

Second try at making a nappy

Haven't posted the first attempt from the Rocket Bottoms pattern yet.  This one is from the Tighty Whitey Hipster pattern from Little Comet Tails, size M.  G is now 8kg at almost 5 months.  Seems to fit well snapped up at the tightest setting - although the tab cuts into her thigh at the top a bit, might see if I can adjust it next time.

Little kite dress from Enid Gilchrist

Terrible photo, but pretty pleased with this little navy pinwale cord dress from an Enid Gilchrist pattern - Baby Clothes book.  Appliqued the kite and tail using a decorative stitch.  Faced with the same fabric as the kite.  Cheapies from Spotlight's new year sale - all $2.10 a metre, so this wee dress probably cost $1 all up given the amount of fabric it used!  Used the snap press from Assunta for the first time.  Need to reinforce the shoulders under the snaps with the next version.  Should fit this winter, maybe with a hot pink top and tights...

Lotta Jansdotter bloomers

6-12 month size, made from a knit instead of woven.  Crotch a bit narrow for a clothie bum.  Just need to add a bow to make them like these.  Also want to make something like this and this

Skirt from Knitwit pattern

6 gored skirt from Knitwit pattern with a wide ribbing waistband attached.  Made up in a remnant from Moa factory sale.  Found in the back of the wardrobe, unhemmed...made it last summer and think I was annoyed that I'd made it too short.  Bum slightly smaller now so it sits lower on hips and length not so much of a problem :)

Leggings - feet chopped off

Took the leggings with the too small feet, chopped the feet off and hemmed.

Pyjamas

Top from Amvic Baby Knit Kit 1979 - size 00.  Looks to be quite short and wide but I measured it against other t-shirts and it's only about an inch shorter than others that fit her.  Turtles are upside down, whoops!  Used a twin needle to sew on trim - then turned and topstitched again, and trimmed off excess.  Much flatter than tucking under on the wrong side and topstitching.

Pants are from Topkids Baby and Toddler Annual 23 - modified to be one piece, eliminating the bump in the side from the green gingham bloomers.  3 rows of shirring in the leg, with elastic in the bobbin.  Scallop stitch on the bottom hem - what a pain, looks cute but will be interesting to see how it washes up.

Leggings with feet

Oh dear, the feet are too short for little Bigfoot...and the heels have a strange curve that needs to be cut off next time.  Amvic Baby Knit Kit, 1979, size 00

Topkids Baby and Toddler Annual 23 - Bloomers

Had to add extra length to make frill under elastic casing.  Strange curve on the side of the leg that I might smooth out next time.  3mm elastic in leg, 10mm non-roll elastic in waistband.  Size 68cm
